Formed during the harsh recession of the early 1980s in County Armagh, Shebeen quickly established themselves as a fresh and innovative folk quartet, writing original and contemporary folk music that captured the zeitgeist and spoke to working class communities everywhere.
Now, almost thirty years on, their music has become relevant once again.
Striking a chord with a new generation of listeners, who hear their own circumstances echoed in songs written before they were even born, Shebeen are enjoying a passionate reunion, playing their music to sold-out venues with an album of new material in the works.
Shebeen have been enjoying a string of successful reunion gigs, playing to full houses, and satisfying their fans hunger for real, original music. Their four part harmony vocals and musical style setting them apart from any act yet to take to the stage: a Shebeen concert is more of an experience than a gig.
